Restless? It’s Time to Discover Your Mission and Change the World

Aug 20, 2024

,let’s dive into something that’s been on my mind recently, especially as I’ve been having more conversations around what it truly means to be on a mission.

The other day, someone connected with me  on LinkedIn and asked a powerful question: “Do your clients come to you because they already have a mission, or are they coming to you to find one?”

Here’s the truth: Everyone wants to change the world, but my clients actually do. And I’m incredibly grateful to the person who asked this question because it made me reflect deeply on the work I do and the extraordinary missions my clients are committed to.

Before I dive into the answer, let me tell you about some of the incredible things my clients are up to. They’re not just talking about making an impact—they’re actively working in areas that are changing the world. From climate change and clean energy to addressing basic human needs, my clients are on the front lines of global transformation.

One client is bringing clean water, energy, and sanitation to marginalized communities in Africa through innovative technology.

Another is developing a climate data and analytics system aimed at reducing greenhouse gases.

One more is raising awareness among young people about marine regeneration, while another leads a major corporation focused on sustainable energy solutions.

And let’s not forget the client researching the link between mental health and financial literacy to create pathways out of poverty.

Incredible, right?

But here’s the thing: Did all of these clients come to me knowing this was their mission? The answer is both yes and no.

Some clients arrive with a clear vision—they know exactly what they want to achieve. But many others come to me feeling restless, knowing they want more, sensing they’re meant for something greater, but not quite sure what that looks like. And that’s where the real work begins.

The Journey to Discovering Your Mission

Most of the clients who seek my help are driven by a desire to up-level their impact. They aren’t necessarily looking for a title or a leadership position for the sake of it—they want to be of service on a deeper level. But they often find themselves held back by fear, doubt, or confusion.

Some feel like they have so much to share, but they’re holding themselves back. They’ve been ignored or dismissed so many times that they’ve started to believe they have nothing important to say.

Others wake up at 3 AM, worried about the future of their organization, feeling the weight of their responsibilities, and unsure of how to move forward without burning out.

This is where we start peeling back the layers—those old beliefs and habits that have kept them playing small.

Often, these patterns stem from childhood experiences, from watching parents who demonstrated a particular work ethic that may have been right for them, but isn’t serving my clients today.

Some of my clients are high achievers, constantly pushing themselves with no room to slow down. But here’s the question I always ask: How true is it that you need to work harder to succeed? How true is it that 15-hour days are the only way to climb the ladder?

When we challenge these beliefs, something powerful happens. We start to uncover the essence of who they are—their unique strengths, passions, and the impact they’re meant to have on the world.

It’s like revealing a diamond that’s been buried under layers of dust. And as we clear away those layers, the spark of their mission begins to shine through.

The Spark of Mission

Here’s something I want you to understand: A mission often reveals itself when you start feeling restless, when you’re seeking a heightened level of aliveness.

You might have achieved success in your career, but if you’re asking yourself, “Is this it? Is this what I want to commit to for the next decade?” then you’re at a crossroads.

This is where we dig deep. We explore what truly drives you, what makes you feel alive, and what you’re here to contribute.

For many of my clients, this means combining their personal experiences with the aspects of their work they love most—sometimes just 10% of their current role—and turning that into a mission that’s uniquely theirs.

One client, for example, realized that her passion for financial literacy and her personal experience with mental health challenges could be combined to create a powerful mission aimed at lifting people out of poverty. That’s the kind of clarity and purpose that emerges when you allow yourself to explore what really matters to you.

Ready to Find Your Mission?

So, if you’re feeling that restlessness, if you’re questioning whether you’re on the right path, if you sense there’s something more for you but you’re scared to take the leap, here’s what I want you to do:

Take action. Reach out for a conversation. Let’s explore what’s holding you back and what’s waiting for you on the other side of that fear.

Because yes, everyone wants to change the world. But the question is, are you ready to be one of the few who actually do? If you’re curious about what it would look like to step into your mission and make a real impact, let’s talk.

Book a time to chat, and let’s discover what’s possible for you. Because I believe you’re here for something bigger—and I’m here to help you find it.

Love,

Rita
